Come this Monday on Adobeairstream the work will begin to lay out two stories that have been in progress. One I can take no credit for save to have asked the writer Vance Maverick a few questions, which led to his penning an excellent essay on Apocryphal Lorca and what Mayhew says about the young poet in the mass grave. For my part I have begun researching the variety of voices who do not say nearly as much as they should about a legacy of American art gifted to the American south where a consortium of historically black colleges have been called to different account about what they do with their paintings than, say, white colleges in the northeast. I will post a link when the work is published but for now you could bookmark the site pages above. And keep reading for posts on what makes for new journalism at a time when so many voices hotly contest who gets to use the name. I am also working on a post about Civilian Conservation Corps in New Mexico in the 1930s because face it, art is political action in our times.
