Santa Fe, NM—Architect David Adjaye has been commissioned to reinterpret the iconic environments through which video art is experienced for the 8th International Biennial at SITE Santa Fe. The Biennial will be co-curated by Sarah Lewis and Daniel Belasco and will examine the integration of other media in video art. The biennial will open in June 2010 and opening weekend events will take place June 18-20, 2010.

The curators hope the biennial, called  ”The Dissolve,” will offer insight into video’s ability to serve as a transitional platform where a single work may move from drawing through video into installation. Far more than a survey of recent video art with experimental forms, the Biennial will include paintings, installations and other works that meld into or slip out of video. It will also feature new commissions from innovators of the medium.

Adjaye’s body of work encompasses private homes for stars such as Ewan McGregor, the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver and a string of London-based “Idea Stores,” described as “public library meets community center.”

Adjaye is working with the Linda Pace Foundation to design a home for Pace’s collection of contemporary art in San Antonio, TX.

SITE Santa Fe Phillips Director, Laura Steward views the selection of Sarah and Daniel, who assisted Robert Storr on the kunsthalle’s 5th Biennial, as the birth of a second generation of curatorial talent. “Working with the brilliant David Adjaye, this team is on track to create the quintessential video show of our time.”
